- Store uncut fresh garlic cloves at room temperature for about one week.
- Minced garlic can be frozen in a sealed container for later use. This is the best method for preserving garlic at home.
- Minced garlic can be stored in the refrigerator, but it must be submerged in either wine, vinegar, or oil. If stored in wine or vinegar, it can stay in the fridge for up to 4 months. If stored in oil, do NOT store for more than 4 days; there is a serious food safety risk. Do not store cut garlic at room temperature, no matter what liquid it is stored in.
- Roast garlic cloves, then mash. Use as a spread for garlic toast, grilled chicken, steak or pork chops, or mix into mashed potatoes.
